It really is not complicated at all. Turn on the synth, set everything in a state you want it to "default" to next time it it powered on. Job done. It should not revert to some basic set of parameters decided upon by the designers.
IF you can change it all yourself when the synth is powered on, then it should have the capability to remain in that state the next time you power on. It should be the customers choice.
I did own a keyboard which pretty much did this but I can't remember which one it was. When powered on it would be exactly as it was when you previously powered it off. So you could straight away pick up from where you left off.
By the way, what we are talking about here is not setting absolutely every parameter to your own defaults. It is just the settings that you most use or would like to use everytime the synth is powered on.
