Yamaha Montage and Montage M Forum • Re: Montage M series and SampleRobot®

"One feature that really impresses us on the new M8x is the polyphonic aftertouch. Unfortunately it's not available with the smaller M6 and M7 versions. The polyphonic aftertouch on the M8x is reminiscent of the mighty Yamaha CS-80 and allows for nuanced and precise articulation of sustained notes. One can have fun for hours even with simple patches exploring new ways of expression."

Yeah Yamaha was out to lunch on this one concerning the M6/M7. Probably scrambling now to release the M6x/M7x asap. Some might not care about it but then when it finally does come available we'll see whether or not they cry foul!

Please remember the PAT on the M8x is essentially barely activated so you have to go boast the responsiveness else you might not even realize it's active on certain PAT voices. Yamaha might have intentionally downplayed the PAT or at least for now however or then again everything they presented was on the M8x like the others didn't exist.

The M8x is pretty enjoyable to use so I'm glad I swapped it out. I agree that if you absolutely ignored every other feature on the M8x (Loopop said exactly the opposite that it wasn't a big deal. I think he was being nice to Yamaha) you could spend a lifetime applying PAT to anything onboard and with so many options. You could use it for the next 50 years if you live that long. I'd be 105.
