Yamaha Montage and Montage M Forum • Re: Why are so many people already dumping their Yamaha Montage M8x??

I don’t know if a few M8x’s showing up for sale means much. Considering the amount that were sold so far. I’m sure there are some that didn’t take the time to research and think about what they were buying are realizing the M8x is not going to be a great keyboard for gigging if you don’t have someone else to lug it around.

As far as PAT not being useful, I’m sure to those that play more basic music or maybe better, basic sounds are finding it not very useful. For anyone who is into making non mainstream music and sounds it’s GREAT. I find no difficulty in getting the feel and touch quickly and I’m hampered by arthritis and it’s accompanying issues. Making use of the AT sensitivity can be helpful. Much of the PAT usefulness lays in getting it properly setup for the sound. Especially AN-X and FM-X. Many of the factory presets are not taking particularly the best advantage of it. I’m by no means an expert at digging deeper in the settings, but slowly getting there. I have found some of the performances off Soundmondo where someone has taken more time being creative with the PAT have opened up the possibilities.

I’m hoping eventually some sound packs will get made that are specific to the M series. It seems right now most that say they’re for the M are just older Montage that have been checked to make sure they play correctly.

All I know this is one M8x owner who has no intention of selling. I’ve just begun to scratch the very surface of this synth.

Oh and one more thing…anyone who pays anymore than $3500 to those on Reverb trying to get just about full new price are doing themselves a disservice.
