I would suggest to isolate the problem:

Can you reproduce the issue on the MODX when it is not connected to the computer?
Can you reproduce the issue on the MODX when it is connected to the computer and MainStage is not running?
Can you reproduce the issue on the MODX when it is connected to the computer and MainStage is running with a complete empty set?
