Yes that is a bit of an odd one. I think I remember seeing a Yamaha catalogue from 1996 with the SG200 in it. It is on the forum somewhere. Likely in the SG section:

I agree though that the serial number does seem to point to 1987![🤔]()
But then, Yamaha serials numbers can be a little erratic here and there.
I doubt it is a fake. SG's were copied but I don't think there would be any money in faking an SG200.
Leon or Brian Alston may have more info and I am sure they will be online at some point. In the meantime I will see if I can get any info from Yamaha. They are not the most communicative these days so it could be while!
