I have some sy77 floppy drives in a spare parts box I'll look at those tomorrow when I have chance.
the clicking sound might be the heads stuck all the way forward, and trying to wind itself back to zero.
While its powered up, with non important disk in it, gently push back (toward the rear of the drive)
on the part of the head drive the screw is winding. it looks like it needs a little help to go back to zero.
Like Sonic has mentioned if floppy drive is the go, grab the Ebay adaptor while there is some in stock.
look for a seller feer1, i have used his adaptors on a Panasonic JU256 PC floppy drives, Sony MPF920 also works.
You will need to cut holes into the rear of the drive caddy to allow for the cables as the drive is longer than the
msx drive. (dont pay ebay prices for floppy drives, they're a rip off.)
That can rescue your floppy disk contents and when you get an emulator your conversion to that is already
half done.
