Hello, so I've recently bought a DX7 without its cartridge and it's in more or less good condition. Everything works I mean, the buttons are responding and there was already some patches in it, except that I ran a complete test ( which concluded successful ) over it and accidentally lost all the pre-loaded voices and such. And i'm left with 32 weird sounds and it's pretty much my fault cause you do lose the sounds when running a complete test.
So what I did was the classic sysex midi transfer that everyone does to load new sounds into their DX7 which I already planned to do first hand before I bought the synth, I just wanted to run the test to confirm the hardware is alright, I also opened it and other than the 4,5v battery placed in it everything looks alright.
THE PROBLEM : so the problem is that when i'm doing the sysex manipulation with my mac and also pcs, I'm doing everything correctly like they say everywhere ( used sysex librarian and bome sx and some other stuff ). I got the " midi data error " message everytime, like EVERYTIME and right now i'm stuck and have no idea what to do.
There's this topic on this very forum from 2008 viewtopic.php?t=2546 and the dude had the same problem, I read all of it, did everything alternative they gave him and still nothing, used old 2013 pc. slowed the transfer rate. Anyways please HELP.
I have a m2 macbook pro and an SSL12. cables are fine, i'm receiving midi from the DX7 when using miditest and on ableton. just can't load patches. I really need to play with it, plus all the pre loaded patches are deleted now and i'm left with nothing.
